Dora Kerns Soft Sugar Cookies
While growing up here in Central NY, We lived next to elderly couple in which we considered grandparents. Boy could she make cookies. They moved to Texas to be with family - we missed them so much. When I was older and cooking myself -I was missing her sugar cookies and wrote to her , she gladly sent the recipe. I still use it her hand written recipe and it is getting lil fragile and as I was rewriting it to keep it - I think of her everytime I make them. I had made a batch and thinking of Dora and Fred (they have past on long time ago) and I thought I would pass on her recipe for all to enjoy.

Dora Kerns Sugar Cookies
Beat: 2 eggs
Stir in : 2/3 cup oil ---2 Tsp vanilla-- 1 Tsp lemon extract
Stir in: 3/4 cup Sugar
Sift in: 2 Cups Flour --2 Tsp Baking Powder --1/2 Tsp Salt
Batter will be soft, drop teaspoon size on to ungreased cookie sheet
Stamp each one with a bottom of a glass that has been dipped in oil and then into sugar
bake 350 degrees 8-10 min cookies will be soft when taken out of oven.

Thanks for sharing this. It's hard to beat a comfortable old sugar cookie, maybe along with a little ice cream.
