Stocks

Have any of you tried the Kitchen Basics brand of chicken or beef stocks? They are wonderful. :)

I have used both, lyndalou, and I agree. They are great! Taste better than my homemade stuff.

I haven't seen them around here, lyndalou, but I will keep my eyes open and try the stuff at the first opportunity!

I couldn't find them in my local Publix, but requested that they get some, and lo and behold, I found them this week. Same thing happened when I requested that they stock panko bread crumbs. I love that store. :)

I have been looking for them forever, but no place around me seemed to carry them. I finally found it in Trader Joe's, but I had just bought a a lot of stock at the market so I didn't get any that time. I can't wait to try it though.

It's pretty good stuff, geebs. They make chicken, beef, and veggie stocks. I've used the first two with great success for various dishes.

I'm actually kinda amazed at the quality of these stocks, actually. I made a beefy onion consomme from their beef stock the other day, and it came out clear as a bell and tasting GREAT. As some might know, it's impossible to make a good consomme from a mediocre stock. It's the sole foundation of the technique. The raft was actually a lighter grey than I've seen before, but held together very well and served its purpose perfectly.

Weeks, I've been trying to remember who, but some group - probably America's Test Kitchen - tested stocks on this one came out on top.

I wouldn't doubt it, mudbug. I've used the stuff as a base for sauces in my experimental dshes and had some really phenomenal successes come out of it.
