I would suggest coming down during regular season. If you come down after October 15th, you can also enjoy some stone crab claws as that is opening day for that season. Umm, stone crab dipped in mustard sauce!

I see by your location you are in a mid-Atlantic state. If that means one of the Carolinas, you can find these lobster there as well. They maybe few and far between, but from what I've seen they tend to be very large! Also, one of my favorite eating fish is the hogfish and they tend to be massive up there as well. You won't find hogfish often caught on hook and line as most must be taken underwater.

BTW, check with our FWC as I don't know what the cost is for a non-resident fishing license.

I'm too far north for one lobster and too far south for the other. We do have wonderful blue crabs here though.
