    ISO a canning question

Yep, Katie E., I did that. I checked the jar rims for nicks, used a funnel to fill them, wiped them down then used lids that had been sitting in hot (not boiling) water.

    ISO a canning question

I canned some tomatoes and okra yesterday. Used quart jars. Jars were hot, tomatoes and okra were hot. Left 1 inch headspace. Made sure all the bubbles were out. When I took them out of the pressure canner and put them on a rack, some of the jars oozed a bit, but they all sealed. Why does...

I am going to can some grape juice. Last year I used the boiling-water method in the Ball Blue Book. This year I'd like to use my pressure canner. Can I? If so, how long should it process and if not, can you tell me why.

    Brownies from a cake mix?

I got a great buy on cake mixes and thought I'd experiment with different uses for them. Cakes last too long in a household of 2 and with brownies and muffins I can always freeze some for later. Thanks for the book suggestion, I will look for that one.

    Brownies from a cake mix?

Has anyone tried making brownies using a cake mix? I tried a white cake mix and just added 3 eggs and 3/4 cup of oil and stirred in raspberry chocolate chunks. I used a 9 x 13 pan which was lined with waxed paper. The result was very good, but not quite brownie consistency. Any suggestions?
