    Roaster

Awhile back I purchased an All-Clad non-sick roaster. I realize now I probably should have gotten just the regular stainless, the reason being that you can make a gravy/sauce with all the browned-on bits. If I make gravy though from a separate recipe, is there any reason why a turkey should...

Has anyone tasted the Bariani brand of olive oil? The comments are extremely positive on their website. I usually use Olio Santo out of California but have an itch to try something new. What do you think?

    Leg of Lamb w/Roasted Potatoes

Rack - yes or no??? I have two recipes. The one where potatoes are added 30 min into the cooking process calls for placing the meat directly onto the cooking dish surface and then surrounding w/the potatoes. The other recipe, sans potatoes, calls for placing the meat on a rack in the cooking...

    Lite Corn Syrup-Shelf Life

I have a name-brand unopened bottle of corn syrup that has no expiration date listed. I can't remember when it was purchased, maybe as long as a year ago, but I've kept it stored in my pantry which is cool and dark. Do you think it's still good or should I just toss it and get a new bottle?

    Pumpkin Puree Substitute

I have a great recipe for pumpkin bread that calls for pumpkin puree. The problem is that I cannot find pumpkin puree anywhere, not even in the high-end grocery stores. Is there any way I could substitute organic canned pumpkin? What about frozen squash - could that be substituted? Maybe I...

    Nutmeg Shelf Life

What's the shelf life of fresh nutmeg? I've been keeping mine in a dark, cool cupboard w/other spices but maybe it would last longer in the freezer??? I only use nutmeg, maybe, twice a month.

    Freezing Fresh Basil?

Fresh basil is SO wonderful! I think it's in season now and I seem to recall hearing that it could be frozen for future use but I can't remember any details. Also, if it can be frozen, how long will it retain it's freshness?

My daughter and I will be hosting Gram's 80th Birthday Party in May. The times will be from 1-4pm, approximately. Mixed drinks, wine and beer will be available. Also, we're getting a cake from a specialty bakery. We'd like to have a buffet-style, appetizer/salad-type menu. Any ideas?

    E. Coli

Since fall, there have been numerous E. Coli breakouts here in the Twin Cities/Metro Area of Minnesota resulting from store bought lettuce, and, most recently Taco Bell. I had planned on including a salad of mixed greens on the menu for a holiday party but now am thinking twice about that...

I want to purchase a new food processor!

Love my Cuisinart(s)! I'm a late bloomer and just recently discovered the food processor. Last year I received the 3-cup as a gift and soon discovered it was too small for my needs. I was making double batches of things - insane! Anyway, I recently purchased an 11-cup and use it for...

    Substitute Veggie in Chicken Stew

Have a great recipe for Chicken Stew w/Biscuits that I want to make more kid-friendly. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 C frozen small whole onions in addition to 2 C chopped yellow onions. Too many onions for kids!!! There's already carrots and peas in this recipe. What could I use in place of...

    Riesling wine?

A Very Good Read I totally enjoyed "Great Wine Made Simple" by Andrea Immer. I can now look at a wine list and pretty much figure out what that bottle will taste like. And as well, in the liquor store I can learn alot about a wine just from reading the labels. If you want the basics, with a...
