    Hershey's Syrup?

Here's a TNT crowd-pleasing, kid-pleasing recipe that's been around forever. Makes a rich, delicious brownie. Why I keep a can of Hershey's Syrup on hand 24/7. Hershey Syrup Brownies 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 4 eggs 1 (16 oz.) can Hershey syrup 1 cup flour...

    Brownies from a cake mix?

I have to agree with marmalady. I suppose there are all sorts of ways to doctor up a brownie mix, but why bother? The brownie recipe I (mostly) use is Katherine Hepburn's . . . essentially, on the stove in a kettle, melt a stick of butter together with 3 squares baking chocolate, add a cup of...

    English Muffins

Peanut butter, apple butter, jams, jellies and Nutella! They also make a lovely peanut butter & bacon sandwich. Dakota

    MN - Minnesota eateries?

Two years ago, I enjoyed an excellent tenderloin at the Staghead Restaurant in Red Wing. Great dining experience, wish I lived closer. Dakota

    MN - Minnesota eateries?

Charlie's and the pate, and that beautiful mahogony bar is :sad:gone, but Murray's is still there. So many excellent restaurants in Minneapolis, but Murray's tops my list for steak, garlic toast, and . . . memories. Dakota

    Ideas for fresh coconuts?

Singing, Roll-a-bowl-a-ball-a-penny-a-pitch! :tongue:Help, make it stop! Back to the question: 1) Have on hand ingredients for mojitos. 2) Using a vegetable peeler, peel off long, thin strips of coconut flesh. Place on baking sheet. Salt! Spritz with vegetable or olive oil. Bake @ 350, turning...

    Apricots in Bacon Rec:

Kadesma, I am back to report: I made these yesterday and they are delicious. Hadn't thought of an apricots & bacon combination, now I'm thinking bacon & dates. Thanks again, Dakota

    Apricots in Bacon Rec:

Copied, pasted, printed. This sounds like a great addition to my usual rumaki — chicken livers, mushrooms, water chestnuts, alone or in combination with, of course, bacon. I love apricots! Thank you!

    Beef stroganoff

This recipe sounds very good, thank you! I've made beef stroganoff using hamburger and that's good, too. What I call a "hungry boys" recipe, a cheaper and faster alternative for the weary cook who needs to feed teenagers or a crowd.

    Enchilada Sauce or Chili Gravy

Thanks for the sauce recipe and the enchilada cooking tip. I love enchiladas but eat them mostly in Mexican restaurants. I won't buy a canned sauce, but can't seem to find a recipe for a good one. Maybe I'm sauce-impaired, cooking-wise? :sick:Dakota Rose

    Rum substitute?

As Andy notes, there *is* a lot of sweet in this recipe! So I'd skip the rum in favor of fresh orange juice ... for a nice, tangy, balance. :angel:Dakota

    Towels

I like the bar towels from Bed, Bath, Beyond 'cos they're really thirsty. They soak spills and water right up; on the negative side, they're white. But since I found their cheaper cousins at Target, will continue to use. :chef:Dakota

    TNT French Apple Cake

    Spicy Pot Roast REC

Kadesma and Constance, thank you for your kind words! It is a nice change of pace, and I hope it works for you. BTW, I live in the heart of potato country and I always serve this roast with plain:whistling boiled, white rice. Change is good, right? :chef:Dakota

How BAD would using margarine instead of butter be?

I can't speak for pound cake, but I used to make many/most of my cakes with Land 'O Lakes stick margarine. Then, butter regarded as "bad" and margarine as "good." Anyway, the cakes turned out well. If you're concerned about missing the buttery flavor, perhaps you could add butter extract. Just a...

Cheeseburger Macaroni: Need some Ideas and Recipes.

The ingredients in Emeril's Southwest Seasoning mix ... salt, paprika, chili powder, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, crushed red pepper and granulated garlic ... would be :smile:great spicy additions to your hamburger/onion starter. Favorite Rice dish?

I love Broccoli Rice Casserole, and I love risotto's. But my favorite is a wild rice pilaf that includes bacon, mushrooms, onion, chicken broth, cream, brandy, and a variety of seasonings. A rich, savory, crunchy dish my grandson describes as having "good mouth feel." Good tummy feel...
