On the basis of internet reviews and recommendations from friends I will be having a heavy duty KA if ever my trusty old, inherited from my mother, Kenwood dies the death.
On a very shallow level I like the look of the KA better. Kenwoods are rather old-fashioned looking apart from the Kmix range which look a bit naff. KAs look so business like. Looks, however, should not be the only criteria for choosing.
My mixer and I have been together about 20 years, and when she dies, I'll likely build a shrine to her. I have some weird emotional attachment to this mixer. Maybe it's because my parents bought it for me, maybe because it has been so faithful.
When I left home, I wasn't sure if I'd have my own kitchen and I was moving a 1000 miles away. While I was gone, my mom started using it and loved it. She offered to keep that one and buy a new one and have it shipped to me. I told her "NO, I want that one!" I sent her a new cobalt blue one and brought mine home on the next trip.
