This isn't from scratch, but is still phenominal. If you really love chocolate, you've got to try this.
You will need 1 ten-inch pan
3 oz. warm butter
2 boxed cake mixes
1/2 cup mayonaise
3/4 cup semi-sweet milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup milk-chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 cup cooking oil (I use safflower since sunflower oil isn't available around here.
water according to package directions
6 large eggs.
Preheat oven to 350
butter the pan and flour it.
mix the cake mixes, water, eggs mayonaise, and oil together until smooth. Fill the cake pan with the cake batter. Place in the hot oven and cook for 1 hour. Test with butter knife, if it comes out clean, then the cake is cooked through. If it doesn't, cook for another ten minutes and retest.
While the cake is baking, combine the chocolate chips, cream, and salt in the top of a double boiler and heat while stiring with a whisk until your ganache is smooth and creamy. Remove top section and place in the fridge to cool. Serve over either hot or cold cake. Add a scoop of good vanilla ice cream if you prefer.
This is an amazing flavor. Enjoy.
