Okay, gals, a lesson in trichology 101:

The red fades for a couple of reasons:
first, red hair takes some blue molecules, which are the smallest, therefore, quickest to leave the folicle....then you're just left with red, which is second smallest and yellow, which is largest. So you end up brassy.
second, it depends on the products you're using for coloring and daily care.
You can't get the quality if you don't have a true professional do the work, and if you think about it, it's better to pay the extra $ for a better longerwearing color! Also, get some professional shampoo. Since it's more concentrated, it will last so much longer than the items at most stores.
Also, don't wash your hair every day - it's actually not good for your scalp, unless you're a teenager who takes gym class every day. Your color will last longer and your scalp will be healthier.
