I am trying to reconstruct my Mother's Hot Fudge recipe Basically:
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
White Caro
1 Block of semi sweet chocolate
some water( sprinkle?)
lump of butter
tsp of vanilla

Combine first 6 ingredients, stir over low heat to a soft ball stage, add butter the vanilla. It will harden when placed over ice cream.
As you can see, the measurements are a little off, so much for Mom"s secret recipe!
Is there a recipe that doesn't use milk? I Google and found most use either milk or heavy cream, the same with Food Network.
I am just trying to find a time tested recipe, Thanks

Update on the Fudge recipe. Tried several Google recipes, but they weren't what I was looking for, too much like chocolate syrup. Compared those recipe with my Mother's and came up with this.

1 cup sugar
1/4 or less you just want to dampen the sugar
1 block unsweetened chocolate
2 TBS Karo Light Corn syrup
tbsp vanilla
1-2 tbs of butter

Combine sugar, water, block of chocolate, white Karo, stir to combine bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasional, bring to a soft ball stage ( cup of cold water, drop a couple of drops in try to form soft ball, when soft ball can be formed it is done) Add butter and vanilla, stir and serve.
Sauce will form a shell over the ice cream, and a soft fudge on the bottom of the bowel. Cooled it become a very soft fudge. Enjoy
