I always knew that Olive Oil was healthy but I didn't realize it was not healthy if used it to fry or above 405 degrees....

Is there a health alternative I can substitute for Olive Oil for frying?

I heard that applesauce and/or eggs can be using in place of Olive oil for baking cakes,etc... but I don't think those would be good or even work in recipes with veggies and spices that require frying with oil.

Any substitutes?
 
I will saute and shallow fry with olive oil. If I'm deep frying or wok cooking, it will be oil that has a high smoke point, which olive oil certainly doesn't.
 
Using EVOO for frying is a waste of good money. It is better to use light olive oil. If the heat is too high for EVOO, then it will smoke. If it is too low, the food becomes greasy as it absorbs the oil. :angel:
 
We never get smoking from our olive oil...we never seem to cook at extreme temperatures

For certain foods, we fry with canola oil too
