Things to do with a wooden spoon

Actually I usually use wine to deglaze the pan, or stock if I'm not using wine. Something that adds to the sauce.

We were talking about cleaning burned-on food off the pan. I wouldn't waste wine on that

I remember my Mom standing at her ironing board with a wooden spoon at the ready to threaten my brother with if he didn't behave. I don't recall her ever using it though.

Well, I use wooden spoons for all the right reasons in cooking, but there was a time I would swat my daughter's butt with one. That was pretty effective; we didn't raise an inmate and she's a wonderful lady.
