My post is still alive!
I received an email link to this post today because I was the original poster of this squash story, yet I had forgotten all about it. I saw the title of the link and thought, "I wonder what could happen with yellow squash? Why am I receiving this? I'd better read it...
I like having them on the computer (currently in Cook'n format - not thrilled with it). I usually just print them when I need them which works fine, but that wastes a lot of paper. So my thought was that I'd print the ones I use all the time on recipes card so I could access them easily. I...
Thanks for the ideas, Andy. Sounds like it's working out great for you. As I said, I had MasterCook and liked it. It was (back then) put out by Sierra. But then they stopped making upgrades. Still, I kept using it. I had TONS of Cooking Light cookbooks and others...must have had 35...
Hi PF60!
I used to use MasterCook and liked it. When I upgraded my computer to Vista, MasterCook no longer worked. There were work-arounds, but I decided to upgrade to something else (it was time)...MasterCook was no longer supported. I ended up getting Cook'n for free (due to an...

BIG NEWS: She actually ate a hamburger last night! I still can't believe it.
The last time she ate a hamburger was sometime between April and May of 2009. I remember her eating them when we were on vacation in late March, but then by late spring, she would no longer eat them...

I agree. Packaged seasoning is okay when time-pressed. I try to get the non-MSG kind in that case.
I'm not sure that I've ever eaten canned carrots. I think canned green beans and canned peas are the WORST. My MIL serves both of those EVERY TIME she cooks for us...

I love hearing about your experiences with your grandchildren! And I truly appreciate your advice. My mom passed away in 2007. I don't have her to turn to. (And with food, my friends and relatives just let their kids eat whatever they want so I can't really seek their advice!)...
bigdaddy3k - Interesting idea. One of my girls would eat that no problem. The other would pick it apart. She has to examine everything before she puts it in her mouth. I may try it just for the added nutritional value. My guess is that she wouldn't eat it, especially since she dumps...
I think I'd rather eat a gourd than that yellow squash. I just cannot believe how awful it was.
I'm glad to see that nobody has posted that the same thing happened to them. It was really awful.

So you always enforce the "you have to have a taste" rule? Please tell me more!!
My mom used to always tell me to try things, if I didn't like them, I didn't have to eat them, but she wanted me to try them. Then my dad would say I didn't have to....boy did they fight about that...
Thanks, CharlieD. I love cooking with gas. Honestly, we don't even have a "real" gas hook-up. I wanted to have a gas cooktop so badly (I hate electric) my husband hooked up a few 20lb propane tanks to create a supply from outside. I would never give up gas cooking. I'm just wondering what...
While making dinner last night, I was looking for a vegetable that I could cook fast. I had two beautiful yellow (summer) squash in the refrigerator that I had purchased on Wednesday. I decided to chop them up quickly and cook them in the microwave (something I do often when in a hurry). I...
I have a 5 burner (36 inch) glass cooktop with enamel burners. I love cooking with gas (propane), but detest cleaning the cooktop. The glass cleans up very easily with windex. The enamel burners are another story. They are so difficult to clean. I tried a special cleaner made for enamel...
