How to clean rice steamer element

The heating element in the steamer has a lot of buildup on it and I don't know what the best way to clean it would be. Should I let some baking soda and water soak in the water reservoir or does anyone have a better way to clean a steamer?

Help...The Wine Came To A Boil

I don't drink wine and the only thing I use it for is to baste my turkey. I was melting butter in the wine on top of the stove just now and it came to a boil while I was out of the room. Is it still OK or have I spoiled it?

    Shortening, Lard, Oil

I just don't understand the difference between these three items. Are they interchangeable based on preference, or do they each have very distinctive uses. I am frying chicken tonight and I don't know if I have to use oil in my pan or if I have to use lard. One other thing I would like to...

Hard Boiled Eggs Peel In Layers

I was told that a sure fire way to have hard boiled eggs peel easily is to dunk them in very chilled water immediately after draining the boiled water off them and continue to chill in the fridge for a couple of more hours. I have done this, I have been told to boil them in salted water to...

    Hillbilly Definitions

I once bought a book about southern lingo when I visited Pigeon Forge Tennessee a few years ago. Very funny and close to the post made here. I found the Smoky Mountains to be some of the most beautiful scenery that I have seen by the way.

Last thing that made you smile?

What makes me smile all the time is my beautiful doggy Lukka. She is a Caucasian Ovcharka and has personality to spare. Nine months old now and growing like a weed. A big beautiful fluffy weed.

Anyone else bummed that it's fall?

I for one am glad that fall is here. I can put up with the early darkness in fall and then the snow in winter and the awakening of nature in spring, however the heat of summer is something that I dread. Perhaps this isn't as much a vote for the fall season but a vote against summer.

    I Love Telus Commercials

They use the most adorable animals in these adds. At the moment my favorite is the one with the monkey holding the watering can over the frog.
