    Garlic garden

I may have to order some of those. Our garlic is growing, but getting small cloves so far. I may have to dig a few today, as we are heading into a possible ice storm, and we are almost OUT of garlic!!! I should know that that is one thing to stock up on before a storm.....bread, milk...

    Garlic garden

I think I've read that garlic grows well in colder climates, and I did grow some in MN some years back. I checked ours today, and planted more, and yes, the cloves are sprouting in the house. The early Spring garlic is sooo good; almost sweet, and not strong at alll. I'm sure those of you who...

    Garlic garden

We planted our garlic about a month ago, just some cloves from the store, as an experiment. Now, with heavy rains and winds, the straw has blown away - should I cover them again, or do they freeze and/or rot?? We are in southern MO; and we've had good luck with the cloves we bought before and...

Looking for a soft Gingerbread men cookie

I never thought of that!! I did make the recipe, and they turned out good. We ended up adding quite a bit more flour. If I make them again, I'll try the powdered sugar. Thanks for the hint. One more thing - I also made Martha Stewarts sugar cookie recipe, but rolled the dough between two...

Looking for a soft Gingerbread men cookie

Aaahh, just what I was looking for. One thing, tho - I remember making these cookies before (not this recipe), and had a horrid time rolling them, as they were terribly sticky. Maybe I'll try again this year. Wouldn't too much flour take away the taste, tho?? If that makes sense....

NEW World’s hottest pepper is ‘hot enough to strip paint’

 It grows on ya. We never cared for 'hot' food as it isn't popular in the northern states, but after we moved south, we got used to it, and then really liked it. You want more heat after awhile, so you keep experimenting with hotter peppers. No kidding. I put it on most everything...

What to do with chicken feet?

Do you serve them for company; lol  I wouldn't mind trying something like that. Have been looking for a local farmer to buy chicken from, and maybe I'll ask for some feet.

NEW World’s hottest pepper is ‘hot enough to strip paint’

 OUCH!!! Now that is one I'd like to try - sparingly. We grow a bolivian pepper that is really hot, but this one sounds way over the top. I'm thinking it could also be very healthy.

What to do with chicken feet?

Hello all, I joined some time back, but with my old computer problems, and subsequent 'crash', I've been absent a while. Whew...wish I knew more about these things; lol. Re: the chicken feet; they are excellent for soup. I used them when we raised our own chickens. Of course, that meant an...

    Help! Newbie Tomato Gardener!

Hi, I am new, and love it that you have gardening threads!! We've been gardening for many years, and any of the above mentioned methods should work fine to ripen your tomatoes. It has been a strange year for gardening here (MO), we thought we were going to lose a lot of plants because of the...
