Garlic for 2024, one new variety this year

I used to grow many varieties. I then attended an 'Open Farm 'Day' up in Connecticut. One of the farms was a garlic farm. The framer was on hand answering questions, and I chewed the poor guys ear off. He exclusively uses the German White (A hard neck variety). He's only located about 20 -...

Best store bought macaroni and cheese

I actually kinda liked the canned cheese ravioli , and the spaghettio's. I always used to eat them cold, right out of the can. Ahhh, the good ole days. Years ago, my dad was an accountant, and one of his clients was a well known chef, with a well known, highly rated restaurant inn NYC at the...

    What are you doing?

About do my weekly produce shopping, then later on, will go two an Indian market to pick up a few things, A donation store to drop off a bunch of things (we're doing some spring cleaning in the house, so I prefer to donate than throw out) and ultimately for lunch going to a vegan pop up food...

Vinegar bad for teeth and mouth?

Exactly! The combination of acid and friction increase the amount of wear significantly . Better off rinsing with water initially to dilute the acids.

Best store bought macaroni and cheese

Many years ago, back when I was living in Philly, a local supermarket chain (ShopRite) had a promotion during Thanksgiving time. Iff you spent $300 over a certain period of time , you'd get a free Turkey or Ham for Thanksgiving. We shopped there religiously , and always met the $300 mark, but...

Garlic for 2024, one new variety this year

Not sure about all you other garlic growers out there, and I hate to jinx it, but my garlic is looking pretty healthy at this point and growing fast. They seem to have hit their 1 foot height mark a week or two earlier these past few years than years in the recent past. I primarily grow German...

    Garden 2024

The next week his supposed to be relatively warm. tomorrow or Monday will be my transplant to larger pot day. Probably start hardening the tomatoes in the garage. Partially to harden, and partially to slow them down a bit before they get leggy. They grow so quick once they get going

I just rooted some store bought Lemon grass, question on when to plant

Im usually left with more greens than thick stalks. I usually dry some of the leaves for tea. One person I follow basically takes a few leaves and kinda bundles them up into a wreath or bird nest - like bundle ( small enough to fit into a mug) and dries them like that. When in the mood for...

    Asparagus Soup question

By me, the bundles are about a pound each. So I probably would have used 2 of the, ( 2 lbs in total). I made a very similar soup in the past. The only thing I did in addition was add some parmesan cheese.

    Garden 2024

I usually dont start peppers from seeds, I thought they were too finicky. Last year , I ordered 3 plants, and either they made a mistake or I did, but I got 3 packets of seeds (of the variety I wanted) instead of the plants. Since I have so much extra seeds, I decided to plant them...

    Garden 2024

I started my tomatoes a week later than usual, then dropped them and had to start again, and they're still growing like crazy. usually I have to get them into the cooler garage to slow them down, cause they wont go into the ground until mid may. I put my ginger and lemon grass in my mushroom...

    Finally bought a bench scraper

Asside fro, my larger cutting boards, I have a few of those flexible plastic 'cutting boards' ( or whatever they are called). Whats nice about them,is after cutting on them , you can kinda fold the 'board' which makes dumping the veggies ( or whatever ) easy and precise into the pot, bowl ...
