    What's nutmeg like?

    On french toast (along with cinnamon)! Yum. Nutmeg, tastes like .....nutmeg. Nothing really like it. Love the smell (and taste) of it freshly grated. Good on snickerdoodles too.

    How do you learn to cook?

    As to good cook books, I love any of the Alton Brown books (he of Good Eats fame on the Food Network). They teach you, not just the hows of cooking, but also the whys in what you are doing. Plus he's pretty funny. I just got his book on Baking and I'm learning and laughing my behind off.

    Get something with anti-shake. More photos are ruined by camera shake than anything else. I love Carl Ziess lenses (I own a Hasselblad); they are the sharpest lenses made.     NY Times bread recipe--what FUN

    Made my first loaf of this yesterday. Awesome bread! It was my first loaf of bread not using a breadmaker, and it won't be my last. I used cornmeal on the towels and didn't have a sticking problem and the roasted cornmeal looks great on the bread.
