Make wedding cake "toppers"?
You can make cookies in the shape of the wedding cake toppers, bride and groom batches. I saw some ready made cookie molds on Bakeries, Cakes, Desserts but it might not be so hard to do it yourself, if you have the time.
The mac and cheese idea was great-- and if you want to dress it up, try adding different kinds of cheese. It doesnt have to be boring, and everyone will eat it.
The theme of "anything you can fit in a pie shell" went over very well last thanksgiving. We had turkey pie, mashed potato pie, even cabbage pie! And of course the dessert pies.
That's a good formula- in fact, I'm going to remember it next time I host a big party. Also, leftovers are never a bad thing, and beans save well for a few days.
It's always fun having a PI party on march 14... have everyone eat 3.14 slices... haha I know it's nerdy, but I've held pi pie parties before and they were great.
YOu can add curry powder to just about anything and have it taste more exotic. I am a huge fan of making curry salad dressing with oil, vinegar, and mayo.
If it's a matter of just a few weeks, you should be fine. Freezing really starts to affect flavor after months, not weeks. Just don't keep thawing it and re freezing.
True- you don't want to accidentally cook something she hates! I made that mistake cooking for my boss and it turned out she hated beets... oh well. Just ask her what she likes!
