generally speaking.. is it dirty? or does wash come clean?

So my mom cooks a lot of rice at a time... and before the rice has a chance to harden and get stale... she wraps the remaining rice in saran wrap.. and throws it in the freezer. When she wants to eat the rice, she throws it in the microwave for 3 minutes and the rice tastes just as if she had...

maybe a noobie question... but why use stale crackers for meatloaf instead of crisp? it is a preference thing?

is it really bad if you don't wash the rice before you cook it? I'm actually very meticulous about cleaning it through many times.. but never dared not cleaning it... are the consequences of not doing so...dire? haha
