How often do you make (and have) dessert?

We always end our meal with something sweet. On weeknights it is usually some fruit with a couple of cookies for the kids. On the weekends, I try to make something.

Oh re: the 10 baggies of frozen bananas.... I take them out one at a time to make muffins etc. I prefer to do that then freeze them whole because the slimy black frozen bananas turn my stomach!

    Got a glut of bananas

The other night I made a chocolate bread pudding with bananas and raspberries, it was very good, but it will come nowhere close to using 10 bananas!! When I have lots of ripe bananas I mash them and then freeze them in plastic baggies for later (1 cup in each baggie).

    What's For Dinner Memorial Day - May 28, 2007?

Well it isn't a holiday in Canada :-( .... so I think we'll be using up leftovers from the weekend. We have to eat quick tonight so we'll be done before the hockey game starts. I'm from Ottawa and we're going for the Stanley Cup.

    Ideas for wild garlic

Thanks for the awesome suggestion, unfortunately (or maybe luckily) I don't have an ice cream maker. I ended up making a Caremilized Onion and Wild Garlic Quiche in a couscous crust. It was quite nice. I used the couscous for the crust because I had some leftover. I'll type out the recipe...

    Rice does not like me

I love risotto. I have two recipes for risotto on my blog - you can jump over there and check them out if you like... the first is a saffron risotto and the second is a dessert risotto with cranberries and apple. If you aren't sure about trying a traditional risotto, than I would highly...

    ISO Easy Brown Bread Recipe

It is hard to make a 100% whole wheat loaf that doesn't come out like a concrete brick. My trick is to add Vital Wheat Gluten to the dough. Add 1 tbsp per cup of flour you are using. When combined with water, gluten becomes highly elastic. When you put in in bread it helps retain the gas and...

    Supper or Dinner?

I have always used Supper and Dinner interchangeably for the evening meal and lunch for the noon-time meal. My husband's family are French Canadian and they use Souper (Soo-pay) for their evening meal and Diner (Dee-nay) for lunch.

ISO Oven Roasted Spare Rib Advice

We usually BBQ our ribs over indirect heat on a charcoal grill for 1.5 hours (40 minutes without BBQ sauce and the rest with). But I also make baby back ribs in my slow cooker with a sauce that uses root beer. It is VERY popular at my house. There are pictures and a recipe here

I just found this site today, and I can see that I am going to lose LOTS of time reading all the recipe posts. I tend to hoard recipes, more than I could EVER make in my lifetime. But I do try out lots of new things, and then I take hundreds of pictures and write about my successes (and flops)...
