    Pre-cooked frozen shrimp

Hello all, Recently my GF came home with a bag of frozen pre cooked, cleaned shrimp. I thawed some to serve with cocktail sauce, but they were pretty bland, even with the sauce. Any ideas what I could do with the remainders? As they're pre cooked, I would imagine that any farther cooking would...

Hello all, I've got some livers from 3 ducks and two turkeys from yesterdays feast. Any ideas as to how to use them? I love fried chicken livers, but would really like to try something else. Thanks, John.

    Grilled whole red snapper help!

Hello all, I just bought a wonderfully fresh (at least for our area) red snapper that I plan to prepare for dinner tonight. I've never done a whole fish on the grill before, so I'd love some advise from those who know. I plan to cut a few slits on each side of the fish and season with salt &...

    Bad news/Good news.

OK, first the bad news. We had a pretty bad rain and wind storm here on Tues, and a wild cherry tree growing in the park next to me fell and took out a section of my fence. Now, the good news. I've got a big ole heap of cherry wood for the smoker!

    Repair or replace?

At what price point do you guys decide if you will repair or replace an appliance? My gas grill is in need of a rebuild. Replacing the worn parts will cost approx $200.00:huh: I'm seriously considering buying a new stainless steel grill from Costco for $399.00. Where do you draw the line at...

    Chestnut wood

Hello, I'm taking down a chesnut tree today for my Dad and was wondering if the wood would be any good for smoking. I usually use hickory or cherry because it grows out back and I really like the taste. Has anyone here tried chesnut? John.

    American saffron?

While shopping at Wegmanns, I came upon american saffron in the spice section. Has anyone here tried this product? If so, how does it compare to spanish saffron? It was really inexpensive, I guess I should have tried it. Thanks, John.

    Baking chicken

I'm baking two small chickens tonight, (approx 3 1/2 lbs ea). I have them in a brine now and plan to put them in the oven at 5:00. I usually bake them at 350 for about 1 1/2 hr, but I've seen a recipe by Sara on the FN that's called "blasted chicken" where she cooks them at 450 for 45mins. Has...

    No boil lasagna noodles

As simple as it is, I've never made lasagna before. Can anyone explain the difference between regular and no boil noodles? Is one superior to the other as far as taste and texture? I would imagine the no boil would be for convenience, but is there a trade off in quality? Thanks, John.

    Convection Ovens

I'm not sure if this topic belongs here but, I'm changing my kitchen a bit, (my brother gave me a bunch of cabinets that match mine) and I've decide to get rid of my free standing stove and install a cooktop/island and a double wall oven. My question is for those who have the convection oven...
