What are some healthy & light pasta sauces?

I don't know the answer, but I'm sure interested. Great question!

    School lunches?

My kids loved hot food in a wide mouth thermos. However, they disliked having to hang on to the thermos after eating. They liked being unencumbered, throwing away 100% disposable lunches. They also hated bringing home the thermos and rinsing it out. I insisted that they at least rinse it...

    What are you baking today?

I love scones but I find them way overpriced at the store AND the one time I tried to bake them, they came out terrible. good luck. Better yet, you have a tried and true recipe that you can depend on and you don't need any luck.

Rice Cookers ... Please give me your advice/ideas.

I love my rice cooker, too. It makes it so easy and always comes out right. Brown rice for fried rice? Is that was most Chinese restaurants use? I know it's brown after cooking, but I always thought it was the same "sticky" white rice w/ soy and browned. But anyway - brown rice for fried...

    Strawberries dipped in chocolate!

Now she tells me. Earlier, I shared my frustration trying to melt white chocolate chips. I went into Party Plus to get some things and noticed some candy supplies. I bought a bag of chocolate disks and a bag of white choc disks. I shared my earlier problem with the SA and she said all you...

    Rum Balls

In my house you could have a couple if you weren't going out anywhere soon. I've never had rum balls with chocolate in them. I like both, so this sounds very tempting.

    Chicken Mushroom Casserole

All the ingredients sound great, but THREE CANS of mushroom soup sounds like an awful lot. Kinda soupy?

Looking for a bit of help with baking peanut butter cookies please

I've been meaning to find a good recipe and make some of these! Wonderful. Do you think it would come out well using crunchy PB? What about adding some peanuts? What type would work best? (Probably not honey dry roasted) Would you add the nuts to the dough or just press a few into each...

    Freezing squash

A neighbor of mine says it works great, but one should blanch the sliced squash first. I over did the brief steam/boil last year and wound up with mushy yuk that we tossed out. Good luck.

What's for Dinner Thursday July 9th?

We're having leftovers from takeout after arriving home yesterday. I love getting Ideas about all the wonderful things other folks are "whipping up", but I am so glad that my family doesn't read these posts - I'd have an upraising on my hands!

    How's Your Garden Doin'?

The strawberries did great. I didn't plant anything else this year as we were out of town. I'm going to test my theory about things growing into November, and will be putting some things into the ground this weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Foods to prepare when going on a plane ride, that won't spoil.

I always make sandwiches on pita bread for my family. A slice of Wonder bread doesn't stand a chance against a Harry Potter book in a backpack. I like PB& J, but my kids prefers ham with mustard. I avoid mayo, but if they clamor for tuna or something, I make sure they eat those first. Dad...

Needed urgent Help Pan fry? or Foreman it?

My GF grill does a wonderful job of grilling salmon, which is a lot sturdier fillet. If you're inclined to try yous, I'd recommend loading it up so as to spread the weight across more fish surface area. Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how this goes for you.

    Cherry Jam

I made jam for the first time this year using some of our bumper strawbery crop. It was easy using the Sure-Gel instructions. The instructions did say to use your best fruit and not the over ripes.

    Kitchen Renovation...Need Help!

I think a tile with little sheen would be nice and I definitely think a complimentary color would be important - I suggest greens. A lot depends on other areas / themes in your house.I think you've max'd out on the warm, rich browns with the flooring and cabinets.

What are the most respectable grill brands?

I bet you'll be able to get a good deal as the summer wear on. We got a Charbroil last fall for about $200 and we like it a lot. It's really well made. the grilling surface is enamel on cast iron, so things don't stick. The lid is really heavy steel and i have a hard time lifting it. But he...

    Small town life

My small city doesn't quite qualify, but it surrounded by very small towns - and friends there are always raving about fish and game dishes. It seems no two are ever the same, but folks roll their eyes talking about the savory flavor of these dishes. I 'd want to taste it before I learned what...

    Organic or Not Organic?

Forgive me if this point is included in some of the links above, but I just want to highlight the point that organic does not mean no chemicals at all. Some may be used in limited amounts at specified intervals and the produce can still be marketed as organic.

What's for Dinner Thursday July 2nd??

We've got a house full of teenagers, with uncertain appetites - they may come home full of milkshakes and fries and not want any dinner - OR - they may come home and devour what ever I serve so fast their taste buds won't have a chance to register the flavor. So I'm not going to slave over...

    I have Chicken Breasts!

Rice Cookers ... Please give me your advice/ideas.

I know this post is pretty old, and the original poster has probably made their buying decision (Must have bought one with all the raves here!) I have a loose lid type, off brand and it is great. The 12 cup size serves my family of 4 & guests very well. I have seen them more frequently in...

    Strawberries dipped in chocolate!

I've mentioned that we get a lot of strawberries out of our garden all at once. So, I'm looking at doing more and different things that will make them last.
