    ISO help w/sourdough starter

Does anyone have a recipe for a good one? (and instructions on how to keep it going?) I had a starter I used for Amish friendship bread but that just didn't have the nice sour taste so I have finally run that out and would like a more tradtional sourdough starter.

    Cooking Basics

I know I am going to do knife safety and skills - safe handeling, using cutting boards - avoiding cross contamination etc. I like the prep idea too. It is amazing how much we do when we cook and don't even think about it.

The question that led me to finding this place!

I love what has been suggested already. It dosen't have to be a budget buster but a good presentation can make a BIG difference. for example if you were going to have a chili bar with different sides, make sure that the choices are in similar bowls and arranged nicely. With the sides maybe...

    Dinner Party Lasagnas - Help!

I would guess that you can, but you will need to rotate them so the ones on the bottom don't get burned. Also some ovens have hot spots so roatating will help with that too. Also keep in mind that part of what cooks the food is the circulation of the heat and air around the item. If you have...

I kneaded by had for a LONG time. I used a bread machine but I found that really made me lazy because I didn't do anyting but put the ingredients in and press start. NOw I can't knead by hand but I have a mixer that kneads for me. For me that is the perfect combination. I still do the...

    Who are you?

When I started working with yeast, I always had trouble. I finally quit fighting it and decided to make something that everyone in my family likes no matter how dense - bagles. After a while of doing that, I learned the right way to knead etc and now I make bread or rolls for dinner at least...
