    I also have spinach, kale mustard greens thru winter....certainly milder here but under row covers as suggested or under glass would work well. Its so nice to harvest fresh greens for Christmas dinner!

    Best Garden vegetables to grow for starters?

    all the squash are easy....the hardest one? hmmmm...I would say for myself in the Pacific Northwest...peppers are the most finicky....really need to baby them as we have humid climate. Greens are a good beginner crop..as are peas.

    I always give my rice a light rinse more for clensing purposes than anything. (Even the rice from the US haha!) And as someone also mentioned previously in this post ...sauteing lightly before adding the liquid makes for great rice....and you can add minced garlic, onions etc just adjusting...

    Iron

    Black tea can reduce iron uptake by 60%...so over consumption of tea can be a bad thing....on the flipside....some countries brew beer in vessels that contain a lot of iron....making beer drinking a healthier choice! I find this to be good news!:wink:
