    I know that Hawaii turned into a Spam loving state during the war. Goods were difficult to come by and the cans of Spam were easily shipped. Even to the troops. I have read alot of Spam recipes from Hawaii and would definately give them a try.

    Rutabagas I slice mine very thin before placing them in the pastry. I do saute the onions and celery a bit before placing in pastry. I use turnips and rutabagas. (Depending upon the season.) Same result.

    Ghiradelli is my usual brand. I find the chips to always blend evenly and not ever melt in the cookie while it is cooking. Sometimes, I add butterscotch chips and mix- per my son's request.

    dukes mayo I use Hellmann's when I run out of Dukes. But, I have alot on hand right now and go to Florida often enough to stock up. For a mayo that contains no sugar, you would not believe the taste and the results. I used to have my suitcase full of Dukes on trips back from Florida. :chef:
