    Have we become "groupies?"

Have not been influenced to buy any brand promoted by any TV Chef/personality. Been influenced to buy some items based on features recommended by them though. I like to watch Alton Brown because his quirkiness makes me smile and I like the challenge shows, Food Network Challenge, Throw Down...

    How do like your eggs?

I like most every fashion of eggs (no balut for me either). My favorite is over-snotty in place of syrup on pancakes. The more snotty it is, the better. Put three of them on a short stack and chop them all together with a dash of salt... Mmmm... If making a sammich, I do fried hard w/cheese...

    Palm Knife

That's the time you ask your friend where he/she got it. Tell them how much you like it and want to get more and you reenforce the fact that they pleased you with their gift.

Quick Question: Should Chicken Smell Like This?

I had it once. While in the Navy and in port at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We had ham for dinner, they used the same ham for mid-rats (midnight snack for watch standers) and then again for breakfast. It never got cold enough when they put it in the overcrowded fridge and they only barely warmed it...

    Blade safe?

I have some old crappy knives in one of those big bugly (ugly and bulky) wooden blocks. Starting to replace them with some better knives (not that they improve my cooking) and with the two new ones I have, the boning knife will go in one of the slots, however, the 8" chef's knife will not fit...

    Cook-Together Risotto

Neither my wife nor I have ever made Risotto and having had it for the first time last February I thought I might try making it. I kinda knew it wouldn’t work out right my first try. The first time I had it was at a company meeting dinner function where we had the resort chef give a cooking...

    Mezzaluna Knife vs Chef Knife

    Mezzaluna Knife vs Chef Knife

I can't see using this thing in a bowl.. She had one that had a regular handle, not like the twin bladed Mezzaluna. Giada De Laurentiis™ for Target® Stainless Steel Mezzaluna Knife : Target

    Spots (pitting?) in Cuisinart cookware?

1/2 can of BKF, the 18VDC power drill with the Mother's polishing ball (used normally for polishing car wheels and such), a 1/3 of a can of Nev-R-Dull metal polish and 2 hours of buffing later and I can only see 1 of the larger spots. Drill is recharging now. OK... I'm kidding, I did get...

    Mezzaluna Knife vs Chef Knife

Never even heard of a Mezzaluna Knife until I happened upon a commercial with Giada De Laurentiis hawking her knife brand at Target. The question is, is a Mezzaluna Knife a suitable substitute for a Chef Knife, a needed addition or what?

    Spots (pitting?) in Cuisinart cookware?

OK, these aren't dishwasher spots, hand washed it and towel dried it right away and since I got them from Amazon.com I can't just take it back. Gonna be some shipping involved. If I can clean them up I'll be fine with that. Sent Cuisinart an email to their customer service people and will...

    Spots (pitting?) in Cuisinart cookware?

In the new Cuisinart Multiclad set I bought I cooked some peas in the 1.5 Qt pan. Only thing in the pan was water, frozen peas and some salt. There was nothing left in the sauce pan after serving. No salty peas sitting on the bottom or anything like that. This is what it looked like after I...

    I finally decided

Delivered today. Pan fried some boneless chicken thighs in EVOO. Turned out pretty good and I surprised myself in that only the first piece gave me trouble with a little sticking. Gonna be a learning curve, but I think it'll be worth the effort. Thanks to everyone for all the input.
