    Back to baked beans. This recipe does sound wonderful. I make homemade baked beans but never sweet. I make mine savoury with finely chopped carrot, onion, celery, ham hock, stock and parsley. I'll will be trying this as soon as possible.

    Had to google just to see how many people are put off by the smell lol. I'm obviously used to it. I make a lot of curry, love Indian food. On it's own it would be scary but a pinch in a pot of Dal is a must for me.

    Rofl! I haven't had that problem. Mine doesn't smell of much. Not that I need anything added to my beans anyway. I'm Irish, I like burping. My kids have IBS. Use that or give them peppermint tea after a gassy meal.

    I buy Maltabella, oats, maize porridge, bran flakes and weetbix for my kids. They are allowed one box of sweetened cereal per month.They'll hopefully thank me one day when the have all their teeth and healthy bodies.

    I ate mostly porridge growing up. My favourite was Maltabella (malted sorgum porridge) very good. We had cereal but all I really liked was corn pops and sometimes fruit loops but dry as a snack for school.

    We either jave a packet of biltong each (we don't share biltong in our house ever) or fresh baked rolls torn open and stuffed with salt and vinegar Lays.

    Canning this year?

    I can year round. Hotsauce, chilli relish, beetroot, pickled veggies, jam, cordials, lemon curd, preserved lemons, atchar, chutney, chakalaka, pickled eggs, ketchup, mustard and pretty much anything I can get my hands on.
