White chocolate and strawberry cheese cake

Hi Everyone, I thought i would share with you, my first cheese cake. Once again, I had a little help from my mother (I really need to grow up!). Firstly, I bashed up 250g (8oz) of digestive biscuits and mixed it with 125g (4oz) of butter. I then flattened this all out in a flan dish and put...

    My first lemon drizzle cake

Hi Everyone, I thought I would share my first lemon drizzle cake attempt with you. Now, before I start, I must confess that, despite being in my 30's, I was actually supervised throughout by my mum!:lol:I did everything myself but in the interests of transparency, I must disclose that she...

    My simple pork chop method

We used to keep pigs on our farm when we were growing up and my mum would feed them doughnuts everyday. The pork chops they produced had more fat on them than meat!

    My simple pork chop method

I think we must have fatter pigs in the UK Andy!:pig: We specialise in obese livestock:lol:

    My simple pork chop method

I think it must be a British thing as butchers of do it like that. It tasted amazing Casey. I was careful not to over cook it as my friend was telling me that pork can go very dry, very quickly so i pulled it out of the oven when it was still a little pink, and let it rest for a few minutes...

    My simple pork chop method

Hi everyone, This is the first recipe I have ever posted and it is a very, very simple one but I have to start somewhere! I went to the butchers and asked for the biggest, beast of a pork chop that they had. I'm sure it's small by American standards but this is what they gave me. I...

    What's for dinner? Sunday 9-23-18

 Wow! that is literally making my mouth water! As a new 'chef' with not much time in the evenings, I am currently tucking into a very unappetising meal of broccoli and shrimp.

My first ever cake. Please don't laugh!

Well it actually tasted a lot better than it looked! I didn't really follow a recipe, my mum just told me how to make it over the phone. That was actually my second attempt because the first one was a bit hard and dry so I added a little milk to the mixture on the second go which made it turn...

    What's your favourite gin?

I don't think gin has really taken off in the US like it has here in the UK. Everywhere you look in London, there seems to be a new gin bar popping up. It's all about the tonic though. When 90% of your gin and tonic is made up of tonic, it makes sense to use good tonic!

    What's your favourite gin?

Ah, probably not a good idea to follow my recommendations then. I wouldn't want to be responsible for you having a reaction!

    What's your favourite gin?

Hi everyone, I've been a gin lover for ages so I thought I would see if you have any recommendations. Here are mine: My number one gin which has stayed at my top spot for the last 5 years is Citadel Gin. It is from Spain and comes in a beautiful blue bottle. It's made with orange peel and...

    Regional slang... inspired by Scott-180...

Grits One of my favourite things to eat when I visit the US is grits but we don't have it over here in the UK. On my last visit I came down for breakfast and piled a large scoop of grits onto my bacon, sausage, egg and hashbrown. It was only when I dipped my sausage into the grits and put it...

    Vodka jelly/jello

thanks very much, i'll give that one a go. I was driving through Virginia actually a few weeks ago. A very beautiful part of the country

    Vodka jelly/jello

Does anyone have a good recipe for vodka jelly/jello? We call it jelly in the UK but I think you call it jello in the US (please see below dedicated thread discussing the differences between British and American slang by Caseydog)...

    Regional slang... inspired by Scott-180...

I haven't read through the entire thread so i'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but in the uk, we often refer to cigarettes as 'fags', which i believe is an offensive word for gay people in the US so sorry if I have offended anyone but when my friend and I visited a bar in Texas, i...

    Regional slang... inspired by Scott-180...

Hey Casey, Sorry I am late to this party, especially as I seem to have inspired it! I think generally speaking, we brits are familiar with most of your slang because we hear it in movies all the time but I do sometimes think how strange our expressions must seem to you guys. I would love to...

    Smelly Cod

thanks Addie and K, Looks like you both live near the cost so you obviously know what you are talking about! I won't shop there anymore. It's sometimes just too convenient to just grab something from a supermarket shelf.

    Smelly Cod

not very long, maybe a couple minutes just to sear it. To be honest, it smelled really strong as soon as i opened the packet
