    Home-Use Meat Slicer

Thinking about getting a small meat slicer for home use and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or insight on getting one? For those who may have one, do you recommend a certain name brand over all others? If so, why?

    Using Fresh Pumpkin for Pie

With Thanksgiving coming up next month I'm going to be baking some pumpkin pies for the family, and friends and was wondering if anyone had any experience using fresh pumpkin instead of buying the canned stuff? Is it feasible or even worth it? It sounds like it could be a little more trouble...

Good wines now come with screw caps, pop tops and paper "bottles"

I still prefer corks when going for a fancy dinner, or event because I'm so used to it. A bottle of champagn with a screw cap at a wedding just isn't the same :) When I'm just at home having a glass I don't mind the screw caps though or even with company or during any informal get together.

    Canned Goods Questions

If the can does not pop when you open it, that should be the first indicator. The pop is caused by pressure between the can and the food, and if that pressure is not there then it leaked out of the can from some where.

    Substituting types of nuts

A recipe I'm going to be preparing calls for a total of two cups of crushed almonds to be used through out the cooking process. I was wondering if anyone has any experience substituting almonds for other types of nuts, and if so what kind would you recomend? I've made the dish a couple times in...
