    You will still need to wash it. Being organic does not take small particles of dirt off. Organic refers just to the process of tilling the land, you still need to wash the cabbage to remove any dust that may have accumulated. Dust is so small they can get into the inner leaves.

    Why chefs wear white hats In response to your question, white makes them look smart. Again, they can easily see if something stains it. If the hat can stain, then you better be careful as you are dealing with food. So the white hat serves two purposes - aesthetics and neatness.

    I buy when I need to be sure about some recipe and I cant find it online. I do not read everything. I just look at the pages of what I want and then keep it. I bought one recently containing 450 recipes but I only looked at the section for meatloaves.

    Joy of Cooking 75th Anniversary

    You must have had a great book. I have seen a reprint or say an upgarded version of this book. It has high sales on Amazon and I love the cover. I only sampled through the content once but never read it in entirety.

    How many appliances do you have on your counter?

    Appliances I have the juice mixer, coffee maker and the electric kettle at the top. I use them almost everyday so they have to stay there.
