    Kitchen Aid Pro Stand Mixer

Lucky girl. KitchenAid mixers are the best. Whip up some meringues for dessert and serve with strawberries perhaps. And as the other members have stated, definitely try the bread recipes. All the best with using your mixer, once you get into it there will be no stopping you from turning out...

What's the status of your freezer?

Freezers are certainly the way to go. Its amazing how much money you can save buying meat and veges in bulk. I have a food saver so everything gets packaged correctly and because it sucks out all the air from the package, I manage to fit so much more into the freezer. I have an assortment of...

    Pressure cookers again.

As others have said, once you get the hang of using a pressure cooker it is one of those appliances you will use on a regular basis. As to whether you get the electric model or a stovetop model, it is a matter of choice. I have a stovetop model and just love the results it gives me. If you are...

I make too much food for 1 person

I find that if I place what I want to prepare out on the countertop I can see at a glance if I have too much and reduce the quantities before starting. I am still in training for cooking for myself after having a large family to cook for, but this process seems to be working or at the very...

I got me a new cookbook

The food on his website looks totally awesome. As Amy says it's fun to search the net but there is nothing quite like sitting down with the cookbook in hand. Have fun with your new book.

Do any of you own a garlic press?

I have a tupperware one that works very well and is easy to clean. However, as I now use lots of garlic in my cooking I have reverted to buying crushed garlic in jars. I know its sacrilege but it works for me.

    Orange Roughy

We usually wrap fish in aluminum foil when we are cooking outdoors over either gas or coals. I like the idea of using the cast iron skillet though. I guess it's just what you get used to doing. Thanks Garry the meal looks good.

Non-Stick Pans - the perfect pan

I use a Scanpan and love it. It is teflon coated but according to the company there shouldn't be a problem with it. This is what they had to say on their website: These reports have focused on PFOA and the EPA's review of this chemical as a potential health hazard. Here are the facts: PFOA is...

Half and Half vs Milk in Scones

In Australia we don't have half and half. Never heard of it until I saw it on the internet one day and wondered what everyone was talking about. I just know that I substitute it with half milk and half cream when I get a recipe for it.

Out-of-Date bread flour - is it bad?

I tend not to pay too much attention to 'Use By' dates. Just use my eyes and my nose to see if it is okay. When I was a kid there was no such thing as 'Use By' dates but we seemed to manage.

    Homemade Limoncella

This would have to be one of the best drinks. Keep it in the freezer (it won't freeze) for a cool refreshing drink. We make it here at home and I have a batch brewing as we speak. It will be another couple weeks before it is ready but it is well worth the wait. And make sure you use unwaxed...
