I guess I kind of have my answer. I'll just have to try the cheap-o brand I bought in different dishes and see how I like them.
I love the flavor just as an occasional spoonful right from the bottle.
I'd bet it would be a wonderful seasoning flavor in a marinade with soy, brown sugar, molassas, ginger.
