I have some malibu sitting in my cabinet. How much O.J and pinapple juice 1/2 and 1/2 or less O.j??? How much rum. I'm looking for drinks for dh's big bday bash. This one might be one I'll do for the party.

We've been on carnival cruise and my DD13 got 1/2 oj 1/2 pinapple juice and shot of gernadine I wonder how it would taste with malibu. anyways please let me know what the portions are for adults. I know dd's punch was a lil sweet.Thanks

It's the grenadine that made it sweet. The proportions sound good otherwise. I would do a little experimenting to see what you like.

My hubby is the drink maker and i'm the drink taster-lol!
We are out of O.j so he made one with Pineapple juice from the can. He said 2-1 . I liked it blended and he liked it on the rocks-lol! I have 4 weeks to experiment-lol! Once i go shopping for O.J i'll report back

Thinking of SRD Rum, though, makes me recall my grandfather, a WWI veteran, and one of his stories of that war, where he went from civilian volunteer in the "Suicide Battalion" to CQMS Sgt, one of three unwounded survivours of his 150 man company at Vimy Ridge...(promotion gets easy with viscious attacks and sickly seasons...a toast in any military mess)

Anyways, it seems Granddad, known then as "Billy", was in an infantry unit deployed right up on the front line trenches, and was detailed to a party of men to bring up the company SRD rum ration for the day (150 men x 4 oz each = 600 ounces) which were issued in pottery "ankers" and it was desireable to have more bodies than the physical exertion would give, both for protection (lest some rear echelon party should fall upon you and steal the good stuff) or should you suffer casualties, or should you be basically dishonest and steal it yourself...

Anyways, the bearing party is headed back up to the line when it comes under artillery barrage and everyone is jumping into the nearest shell hole or swamp to get out of the fire, and the area is given a pretty good beating up...so the surviving party comes to a neat thought...send the youngest member up to the Sgt Major to report that they've caught a dose of fire and the stores are destroyed...while the rest of them salvage the rum and head to the foremost machine gun post at the edge of No-Man's Land and commence to divvy up the spoils and consume same amongst say 6-8 individuals; a good move of entrepreneurship, you'll agree, as rum there is in plenty, but good soldiers are hard to find...

It lacked one element in planning, in that the Germans were in fact serious about expending arty ammo, and produced an attack on that very point of the front...

As Granddad related "I've never got so sober so fast" as they had to use the machine guns etc to fight off the attack, more or less unsupported, and were "mentioned in dispatches" for bravery or "courage", even if it was plainly a "Dutch Courage", which the official records do not record...

He was a tough old bugger, my granddad!

Maybe it's "over proof" but IMO you can make the best Bloody Mary's ever with Everclear 190: 95% grain spirits. Other spirits (80 proof or around there, 40% ethanol, more importantly 60% water) dilute your drinks and make Bloody Mary's watery, thin. IMO the only way to make the best Bloody Mary's is with Everclear--but you have to adjust the amount you use, considering that it's more than twice as strong as vodka. If you use a shot of vodka you should use maybe 1/2 shot Everclear, maybe less.

You can buy Everclear online and it can be shipped into most jurisdictions with no problem. We cannot buy Everclear 190 in California but I can buy it online and have it shipped to me without any problems. Even including shipping it doesn't cost much more than name brand vodka in 80-86 proof, considering you need less. (Price per weight ethanol.)

In no particular order - Havana rum and Appleton rum. Nothing more refreshing than a good Cuba Libre. Also partial to a little mojito too.

Since, I live in Mediterranean, we do not have sanctions with Cuba; and thus, for me the best is Cuban Aged Old Havana ...

For Cocktails I prefer a white or clear Rum ...

Rum and Tonic with Lime = nice and refreshing

Piña Colada = delightfully refreshing and enjoyable

Make your pina colada with coconut rum for an extra rich flavor.

There is a difference in taste between orange pineapple juice and pineapple orange juice. The first juice is predominant in flavor.

My husband likes rum & Dr. Pepper. I like rum in anything.

I don't bake much, so don't keep vanilla extract in my pantry. When I feel the urge to bake, I use whatever distilled alcohol is on hand instead. Works a charm. The spiced rum is particularly good in things like apple sauce or spice cakes.
