Strawberry lemonade

just made this and it was simply amazing! great for a summer time cool down. Goes great with some rum or vodka if you decide to spice it up a little.

  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 c coarsely chopped fresh strawberries
  • 2 c water
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 c fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 c cold water

  1. Combine the sugar and strawbberrys with 2 c water in a med saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer until the berries begin to release their color and soften slightly(about 3 minutes)
  4. Stir in lemon zest
  5. Cool completely
  6. Strain the cooled syrup through a fine sieve set over a pitcher or bowl
  7. Add the fresh lemon juice and 2 1/2 c cold water to the syrup mixture and stir until well blended
