I've never baked a Pumpkin Roll. I was about to attempt this and discovered I have no ground cloves. I do have allspice which I was told could be a substitute.
My question is....should I still use the cinnamon and ginger along with the allspice?
Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

allspice could be used, but it will give completely different taste. Do you like the smell ofit, taste, use very little or skip it all together.

Use the allspice with the other spices. Clove does not make the pumpkin roll. Some recipes don't even include it.

According to the Cook's Thesaurus spices page - yes, allspice is the only listed sub for ground cloves.

But, as CharlieD pointed out - the flavor will be a little different since allspice also contains the flavor of nutmeg (the sub for allspice is equal parts ground cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg).

Yes - go ahead and use the cinnamon and ginger ....
