The difference may be making sandwiches, most recipes I know just add diced bread.
But I would add Worchestershire sauce and a tad of hot sauce. The former being English, the latter American.
Thank you, Aunt Dot. I thought it rang a bell (it must be christmas, lol). Reminded me of bread pudding, perhaps, except w/o the bread cubes. Cream & cheese - what could be bad!
Worcestershire or Tabasco sound yum. Maybe mozzarella instead of cheddar(?) Gonna give it a go.
On the sweet side, looked at a recipe with raisins, cinnamon & vanilla.
Hmmm, maybe for New Years day breakfast/brunch in little ramekins (with Mimosas)?
