You can call these Salvadorian tamales as well. This is how I make them for my husband. One thing different is that the masa (corn dough) has chicken broth in it.

hi dina

mine have chicken broth too... once the corn is ground up, i use the broth that i made from the hen plus the achiote oil, and add that to the dough and begin working it... the masa by itself is extremely tasty on its own, plus the achiote gives it a brighter orange color
