Olive oil mixed with your oatmeal would be delicious gourmet food for the birdies, jpm, but why not just buy some bird seed?
I do buy bird seed I also get alot of birds the Pinon Jays wipe out everything. Im just trying to find out what else they might like.I had to rig a metal type basket so the little chickadees could get to the suet seed block and the Jays could not.Im dealing with a couple hundred of those jays

you're fortunate not to have squirrels. The rodents always raid the bird feeders . In the summer I put out orange slices and apple slices for the Baltimore Orioles . Also have hummingbird feeders .
