I Say PoTAto, You Say PoTAHto...

As Dawglover said in the "How to make the best clam chowder" thread, even though we all speak English (or at least post here in it even if it isn't our native tongue) the words don't always mean the same.

Whether you are actually confused by the meaning of a word in a thread or just curious about something you heard, I hope we can use this thread to clear up confusion. At least as far as word meanings go. The meaning of life? You're on your own for that one.
