why are there sooooo many "travel-around-the-country" shows on the foodnetwork channel?

rachel's tasty travels
giada's travel show
paula deen's vacation shows
alton brown's asphalt show
guy's diners & dives, etc. etc.

next up... bobby flay and emeril and michael will have travel shows.

One of two things:

1) They are running out of ideas for in-house shows

2) People really connect with on the road shows because they are extremely accessible (the cooks are your neighbors and not some TV show Chef/Personality). It adds a sense of “warmth" and comfort to know they are in regular neighborhoods for the show.

I just saw a show where they showcased shade-tree BBQers. I loved it!

I don't know, but you can add that to the list of reasons why FN has become a real disappointment for me--I don't watch it much anymore.

i don't watch it as much anymore either... too much travel stuff.

lately, i've been watching discovery channel cooking shows like "lyon in the kitchen" etc.

the ONLY folks i enjoy watching now on FN are tyler, michael, and boy meets grill.
