Quick and easy and not just an ordinary box cake.
CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT CHRISTMAS CAKE
1 box(es) CAKE MIX; Chocolate.
1 tablespoon(s) PEPPERMINT EXTRACT
1/2 cup(s) BUTTER; Softened.
1/2 cup(s) SHORTENING
1/2 teaspoon(s) PEPPERMINT EXTRACT
1/2 teaspoon(s) VANILLA
1/2 teaspoon(s) SALT
4 cup(s) POWDERED SUGAR
3 tablespoon(s) MILK
1 CANDY CANE; Crushed.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions adding peppermint extract.
Bake cake in two prepared 8-inch round chocolate cake pans.
To prepare frosting, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl except crushed candy cane.
Mix until very smooth and fluffy, scraping sides of bowl as needed.
Frost cake and sprinkle frosted cake with crushed candy cane.
