i'm trying to replicate a "frosting" my mother used to make and not having a very good time of it. i always thought it was pretty much standard, but in my search have discovered that it was not a butter cream, nor a cream cheese, nor do i believe it was the "7 minute" since it was not fluffy. it was white and yummy and not fluffy; that's all i can recall. any ideas i would appreciate.

thanks,

bill

Was it just icing sugar with a little mild added to keep it soft?

My mother's standard icing/frosting was powdered sugar, softened butter, vanilla extract, milk, and a bit of coffee. The coffee could always be replaced with some melted chocolate or with just the vanilla extract. That was our standard icing for EVERYTHING!
