If I want to saute pork chops (about 3/4 inch thick) in a skillet/saute pan on the oven, what would be a good, basic guideline to follow? Like, approximately what temperature for about how long? I was thinking medium-high for maybe 4 minutes per side? I know it'll vary a lot with the size of the chops, the stove, etc., but I'm just looking for a starting point.

You have the basic idea.

Brown them well on both sides in a hot skillet over fairly high heat. Then, turn the heat down and continue until they are cooked through. Internal temp. s/b around 145F - 150F.

I'm with Andy....I'd probably flip'em several times tho, to make sure they cooked thourough.....I'm a stickler'

I usually season them with salt and pepper, brown them well in a hot OVENPROOF skillet and finish them off in a 350 oven for about 10 mins. or so, depending on thickness. Works for me.
