I have been looking at many recipes for Gnocchi soup and they all ask for cooked chicken, why can't I just put raw chicken on my heavy cream/ chicken stock mixture and let it cook with everything else?

Soups are often made with leftover meats and vegetables. So if you roasted a whole chicken for dinner a couple of days ago, the leftovers (cooked) would be great in a hearty soup.
