My gas oven's thermostat is WAY broke. The metal end of the sensor leading out of the oven into the area below the stovetop broke off.

My brother suggested getting high temperature solder and fixing it with a soldering iron.

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so, what they did to fix it!

I'm pretty broke, so the cheaper the solution, the better!

I just talked to my ex-BIL (he used to help his dad in his appliance repair and used appliance business) and he said that from your description the answer is you will not be able to repair it - you need to replace the part.

The danger is that if the soldered thermostat sensor is not working correctly, the oven could overheat to dangerous levels, ruining your dinner or causing a fire.
