Hey everyone,

I've been making my own Jamaica from dried hibiscus flowers for the past few months. I just can't seem to get it to taste as nice and refreshing as what I get in the little taco joints around my area. On a hot day I can easily drink 3-4 refills of the stuff at a taco shop. I can't do that with mine!!? Sometimes it's better than other time (sometimes too sweet, sometimes not enough) but after one glass that's enough.

Anyone have a good recipe? I just put the flowers in boiling water and steep for about a day. Then I add sugar. That's it. It's drinkable, but not close to the little taco shop stuff I really like.

How can I make it like that?

Thanks

Thanks for the link. I have also done some searching and along with the citrus element you've mentioned, I'm also seeing ginger come up quite a bit. I guess it's a few more months of trial and error. Good thing these flowers are relatively inexpensive at the Mexican markets.
