Don't buy me that!!
I have limited cupboard space and no storage anywhere else. Why is it that when people know you like to cook that they assume that you need a dedicated electrical appliance to make one ceartain thing?Crock pots,Electric skillets,Deep fryers and an indoor grill are all I need.If I want to make a grilled sandwich,Casidilla,Pancake or anything fried I will allways choose my favorite cookware. My wife even bought me an electric crepe pan.I have never made nor do I ever plan on makeing crepes and if I did I would prefer to use one of my small non stick skillets.I personaly appreciate the thought and know they mean well but save your money.Thrift stores are full of this stuff.

OK - on my "don't buy me that" list:

An electric bun warmer
Salad Shooter
Avocado segmenter

While not an electrical thing I saw a banana slicer at the grocery store. That has to be the most useless thing..

I have a rice cooker collecting dust, also.

neighbor saw me through the window chopping veg. She came over with a mini food processor (very thoughtful) and was really flabberghasted to hear me say thanks no thanks, I really enjoy chopping and keeping my knife skills well honed. I had to explain that I had fine knives, and a major food processor for things like hummus or a pate.

My mother which thinks she is doing her 5 daughter flavors buy buying us things- which are most appeciate that she thinks of us - but she she is the worse for buying us gadgets.
I make quesdias (spelling?) just by useing my stovetop flat griddle, she saw me and now all of us have a quesadia maker.
Walmart.com: Salton Santa Fe Quesadilla Maker: Appliances
Yes i have used it a few times but i go back to my griddle.
the taco tray
Taco Tray - Holds 6 Tacos and Favorite Toppings
-- still in plactic wrap in back room- (garage sale this summer)

lil cheese grater /storage container this past month from akea
IKEA | Cooking | Utensils & gadgets | CHARM | Grater
used it once as it was taking cheese to a function to later put on the dish i made after it was warmed up. (at my moms) she was happy to see it in use.

the new item is a garlic grater-
I can't even begin to coment on this-- makes a great spoon rest on the top of the stove.

But I do have to say she brought us all a granny fork
* Granny Fork - Rada Cutlery Kitchen Utensil Stainless Steel * Cooking Sharp!

I now have 2 now as I have found she struck gold with this- it is the handiest lil fork.
getting pickles out of a jar - testing potatoes for done - i find myself reaching for it all the time when cooking.

I could go on and on with her pros and cons but ------ Got to love her !!!!! Her heart is in the right place

I giggled at some of this. I have a quesadilla maker too. I use it rarely, mostly when I'm working an evening shift and need to leave a meal plan for the kids. I have a few things gathering dust.

rice cooker - I just don't see the need, 15 minutes stovetop is good
espresso maker - mostly I just suck at using it!
electric knife - just makes a HUGE mess (wait..that might be user error )

I could NOT live without my popcorn popper though. I've killed a few in our married life.

IMHO, once it has been given to me, its mine... to do with what I want.
I have no qualms about returning such useless items, so I can get something
I can use.

The one time someone asked me where there THING was, I explained to them
that I wasn't going to use it so I returned it for a lovely shirt that made me think
of them every time I wore it. ;) They were touched and pleased. (So I didn't get
a shirt, call it a white lie, LOL)

Then there's my sister, who gifted me worthless kitchen items... from garage sales,
LOLOL! No returning them.

heheheheh me, too! Over the years, I have sold a rice cooker a blender and a crock pot/slow cooker at yard sales, after allowing them to sit around my house too long. All gifts from well meaning friends and relatives.
