good for you, sb!:) why would dh do that? a box of baked goods is a big temptation, difficult to resist when it's so close-by....
It used to be something we did every sunday morning in the past. We haven't done that for several months. It was a nice treat, not to be done as often as we used to in the past though.;):yum:

Actually made time for a nice sit-down breakfast this morning. Mushroom, Swiss, & Onion omelet with fried p'taters. And of course, the obligatory cappuccino.

Smoothie. Mixed berries, banana, yogurt, skim milk, ground flax seed.....I would rather have had sausages, eggs, homefries and chase it down with a Bloody Mary, but it's Monday morning, so what is a guy to do? :(

I just finished up the fried perch on two toasted kaiser rolls with Am cheese and a caper tartar sauce.

Shrek took me out for breakfast after my stress test. We both had coffee, biscuits and gravy with an egg and hash browns. Perfect breakfast for a heart patient...

Rock, I love the sound of your smoothie :)

Do use use a stick blender to make them or an upright blender?

1/2 cup of frosted mini wheat, 1/2 cup of captain crunch & 1/2 glazed donut & a regular coffee with cream.

Sprout and her crew are visiting. Before she came up, I told her how I used to love eating breakfast at my Grandpa's house, with the poached eggs, made in little lift-out aluminum cups, from an egg poaching (steaming) pan, with toast and jelly, followed by pancakes with sausage, and sometimes, a bowl of Super Sugar Crisp preceding the eggs. I asked her if I could serve that kind of breakfast to my grand-daughters, as that is one of my fondest memories of my grandparents, how they loved me and made breakfast something beyond what I would ever get at home, even though breakfast at home was good, normal food. I wanted my Grand-daughters to know that at Grandpa's house, they were loved. Sprout said Ok.

Today's breakfast started with poached eggs on whole wheat toast, with juice. There were Bizmarks waiting for them, and the girls saw them. Of course, they instantly wanted the pastry, that is until they dug into the poached eggs. As both of them are toddlers with a sweet tooth, we were all surprised how much they loved the eggs, with the soft yolk and buttery flavor. They completely forgot about the bizmarks, and both asked for another egg. I made two more. They scarfed them down. You have to remember that I'm talking about a 3.5 and a 1.5 year old here. It made me feel great that they loved Grandpa's poached eggs so much.

Later today, we had brunch with friends, comprised of blueberry pancakes, with wild berries we'd picked, washed and froze last summer. We used my recipe for the batter, with Sprout making the batter and cooking the pancakes. She did a fantastic job. And you should see her flipping skills. Sides included home made breakfast sausage and bacon. Real maple syrup, honey, and Log Cabin Country Kitchen syrups were available for each person to choose from.

My Grand-Daughters finally were able to eat a meal, actually two meals that had most of the foods that I loved as a child at my Grandparent's home.

Sledding, a quick snowmowbile ride, and playing in the snow rounded out the day. You've heard the saying repeated so many times that it is somewhat cliche, but, it just doesn't get any better than this. But then again, if I had all of my kids, and grandkids home, I guiss that would be better.

sounds like a great day. my heart only wishes to have been there, to enjoy the breakfast and playtime in the snow as much as you did.

you have a larger family than you think, you know.

I am having eggs and chicken-keeper hash.

And, I thought this was quite interesting:

Meal timing matters for weight loss success - Health - CBC News

Not related to this news story, but if a smoothie is your breakfast of choice--CHEW while you swallow so your brain can tell your stomach you ate something. Otherwise your stomach does not know you ate (I'll try and find the link to that information...gotta love PBS and CBC).

Maybe it is me, but I have not been happy with my Magic Bullet. The only thing I use it for is herbs. I tried making pesto with it--didn't work. Tried making hummus with it, didn't work. After that, I put it in the basement and the only time I've used it since is to chop about 1/4 c of parsley or other herbs at a time.

BT, you and a few others around here I have considered a part of my family for some time. And believe me, I wish you could have been here too. Why do you think I share these experiences with you?

Sadly, when I speak of these experiences to my co-workers, they don't understand. They speak about how their own kids want to be away, doing their own thing, not spending time with their parents. And I get responses like, "I know, you have the perfect family, and your kids want to spend time with you." as they roll their eyes. They just can't fathom a family where the kids want to spend time with parents. To me, it's sad that their worlds are so bereft of family affection, and the true joy of enjoying each other's company. Now granted, my kids are adults now, and they did like to be out with their friends when they were teens. But they enjoyed doing things with me to. They weren't embarrassed to be around me.

My favorite son that we sing in our church is "Families Can Be Together Forever". It can bring a tear to the corner of my eye.

I know that for many here, your feel the same way. And BT, I know that is especially true of you and your son. Yes, I know you are family. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
