1. I read mostly fiction. I like action, spy novels.
2. I enjoy Dan Brown books, Robert Ludlum, Agatha Christie, to mention a few.

4. No. At some point I give up and throw the book away. Figuratively of course
5. There's no hard fast rule depends on my impression

7. I got hooked on an electronic reader when we're going to Aruba every year. I could load half a dozen books on the reader. It weighed next to nothing in took up very little space. Now I can download electronic books from my library for free and I often get a gift certificate at Christmas for Barnes& Noble.

1. I seem to first to search for historical fiction. If nothing inspires me I go for mystery. The only books I pass on are romance novels.
2. I have many favorite authors. Too many to list. As to why, I know I have a high percentage of a chance of enjoying their work.

4. If I'm not enthralled by 1/4th of a book, I send it back so someone else has a chance to read it.
5. Same as #4.
6. I can't put a name to one but, I have done so.
7. I am hardcore Kindle.

1. I read everything, I guess my favorite genre is Science Fiction, but I also read lots of non-fiction. Not fond of my Math books or trite romances.
2. I have many favorite authors, I am most excited about the finding of a missing Robert A. Heinlein draft and it's publication in November this year, it parallels Number of the Beast.
3. Yes, but only those books I have already read, never a new to me book. I have several favorite endings that speak to me and I read them as needed.
4. No, i stop reading if I am not hooked by the first two chapters, I set them aside and re-try them at a later date. After a second try I will pass the book along.
5. Clan of the Cave Bear, by Jean Auel. I tried to read it three times before it finally hooked me. I quickly swept through the rest of the series.
6. Time Enough for Love, by R.A. Heinlein. Very close seconds, Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
7. I prefer paper books. I tried a reader, but did not care for it.

Favorite is historical fiction. Least favorite is spy thrillers.

Yes, usually because I learn a lot from them and enjoy their writing style. A couple favorites are James Michener and Michael Grisham.

No.

No set number; just till I get tired of it.

"The Origin." I started it in high school and got bored with all the geology. After taking Earth science in college, I read it again several years later and loved it.

7. Do you have an all time favorite book?

"The Origin" by James Michener. A close second is "The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Irving Stone.

8. Do you prefer a hard copy book, or an electronic reader and why?

I'm fine with either one. The Kindle app on my tablet is great for traveling and borrowing ebooks. For my book club, I either borrow a book from the library or, if it's not available, I buy a used copy from Amazon. When I'm done with it, I leave it in the Little Free Library in my neighbor's yard.

Kayelle, I can't pick an all-time favorite but some of Ken Follett's works were really gripping. Also, really enjoyed Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles, a six-book series.

Sci Fi is the least. Historical novels my favorite

Barbara Bradford She writes historical novels and does it in several books as a continuous saga.

My Friend Flicka - This book is what got me into reading and loved doing so. I was in the fifth grade at the time and followed it up immediately with Thunderhead. Both books by Mary O'Hara

As kid I would sit at the table and read anything I could get my hands on. Still do. I should be doing surveys making some money, but prefer to be here reading posts.

I don't have answers to every question, but...

My favorite fiction is mysteries, especially one's with a twist I never saw coming.

Therefore, I never read the end first.

Jeffery Archer is my favorite novelist.

If I don't like a book within the first quarter, I ditch it.

I only buy eBooks these days. Easier to travel with, and I can always open to the right page. Plus, I save a few trees over time.

My favourite genres are Science Fiction and Fantasy. I really like when they ask the "big questions". I like the imaginative, possible, future societies.

I almost never read mysteries. I made an exception and I'm glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, written by a friend.

Princess, I also loved "The Clan of the Cave Bear" series by Jean Auel. Another good read is the "People of the River...." (etc.) series by the husband and wife team of W. Michael and Kathleen Gear. If you love Clan of the Cave Bear, you'd love this series. They've done a lot of research and it's quite an amazing read.

Fav..Historical Fiction, Psychological Thrillers. No to Fantasy or Science Fiction.

Jeffery Archer, because he's a master story teller

I haven't but my Mom sometimes did. Don't know why.

4. Do you stick with a book till the end, even if you don't like it?
I have, but always regretted it. I guess I thought the ending would pull it together. Not.

5. If you don't like a book at the start, how many pages will you invest in it?
I now give an author no more than 50 pages to hook me into the story, after that they are fired as an author I'll read. They didn't do their job, and wasted my time. It's a pet peeve of mine.

No

"Kane and Abel" by Jeffery Archer plus all of 7 of his "The Clifton Chronicles" ..

My Kindle reader is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I can now read anything anywhere I want with perfect adjustable light and a font I can see.

1. What's your favorite and least favorite subject matter?
~ I like cozy mysteries, cookbooks*, and non-fiction. Not a fan of sci-fi, fantasy, or romance novels, historic or otherwise.

2. Do you have favorite authors, and why?
~ Laura Childs, Donna Andrews, Krista Davis, Cleo Coyle - all write cozy mysteries. Their characters are so real I feel like I know them.

3. Have you ever read the end of the book first?
~ Heavens no!

4. Do you stick with a book till the end, even if you don't like it?
~ I did, once. Regretted wasting my time. Life is too short to read lousy books or drink lousy coffee.

5. If you don't like a book at the start, how many pages will you invest in it?
~ Less than 50.

6. Do you have an example of a book you didn't like at the start, but very glad you finished?
~ No. See #5.

7 Do you have an all time favorite book?
~ Probably the most recent one I've read - until the next one.

~ I like the heft of a book, the fragrance of wandering through the library stacks, the satisfaction of turning pages.

*I can't believe I was the first to list "cookbooks". I know there are others of you out there that read them like novels instead of cook from them.

My Kindle reader is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I can now read anything anywhere I want with perfect adjustable light and a font I can see.

I hate anything that use the smallest print font possible. And one of my pet peeves is printing out the picture. A waste of my ink supply. I stopped going to one site for those very reasons. I can find recipes elsewhere.

I am hesitant in naming a favorite author.. There are many I enjoy..

That said, I credit Ken Follett for creating an interest within me to read..

I saw the movie, Eye of the Needle in 1981. Shortly afterwards I spotted the book.. I read the book and became hooked.. I have read each of his books as they have become available..

If pressed, I have to say he is the author I most appreciate..
