Collaborative bread thread for whole wheat/multi-grain/whole grain breads

I've often found that breads with 100% whole wheat are too tough to eat. A third rising usually does the trick, and makes the bread light enough to enjoy. Here's a recipe that explains the three risings: MeanMeals.com - 100% Whole wheat bread - Create and share your personal list of meals and...

    Recipe management software

I use meanmeals.com to store my recipes (as you can see from my signature). I find it's the easiest way to share things with friends. When people ask me for a recipe, rather than telling them or copying it out for them, I just point them to the recipe on the website. Entering recipes does...

    Afraid to eat self-cooked chicken

I agree with TATTRAT - put your faith in modern technology. If you stick a cooking thermometer in the thickest part of the chicken, you can tell if it's cooked or not. If you wanted to be extra safe, you could always let it cook for a bit longer after it's done.

    Spatulas and peelers

Potato peelers is the one that always bothers me. There are definitely a lot of bad ones out there! I think that it's a matter of personal preference though - my wife can't stand the peeler I use, and I don't understand how she peels anything with the peeler she prefers. I've been trying to...

Freezing burger buns and hotdog bread?

I think it depends on your freezer. I've found that bread doesn't freeze all that well in an ice-free freezer, but turns out great in a freezer that always stays cold (and lets the ice build up).

Looking for a decent chili recipe

Hi Lynda, Here's my favorite chili recipe: MeanMeals.com - Crockpot Chili - Create and share your personal list of meals and recipes It does have beans in it, but those can easily be substituted for chick peas. It is also fairly mild - not spicy at all! There's only a little bit of chili...
